LSU BASKETBALL Jalen Cook and other multi-transfers eligible to play for the next 14 days

Judge John Preston Bailey issued an immediate restraining order that grants any multi-transfers immediate eligibility for the next 14 days.

This is potentially big news for LSU and Jalen Cook, who hasn't played this year due to his waiver being denied by the NCAA. LSU MBB has three games during that time frame including one against Texas.

Here's a thread of tweets from Justin Williams explaining the situation in detail.

LSU FOOTBALL Rivals national recruiting expert says LSU has reached out to Maalik Murphy

Adam Gorney, Rivals national recruiting director, announces LSU is one of five schools who have been in contact with Maalik Murphy since he jumped into the portal on Wednesday.

LSU has a pretty crowded QB room with Nussmeier, Collins and Hurley coming in. Don't see this as a very likely spot for Murphy, but this could be an interesting situation to monitor nonetheless.

LSU BASKETBALL LSU MBB vs Alabama State Post Game Presser Notes

Matt McMahon
  • Liked his teams second half performance. Felt they were more disruptive in full court pressure.
  • Thought Jordan Wright's 6 assists with 0 turnovers was huge.
  • Loved what he saw from Mike Williams and thought Trae Hannibals energy was big for them.
  • Said he shared a few words with Williams about passing up some open looks in the first half, and Williams went off for 13 points in the second after that.
  • Felt the offensive pace in the second half was better. Their passes were crisper, cuts were faster and they set better screens which led to more open shots.
  • Said they did a better job covering on ball screens and forcing contested shots in the second half.
  • They're expecting to have Jalen Cook available for Saturday's game against Texas. Says there was a lot of confusion this evening on if he could play tonight, but they think he should be good for Saturday.
  • Says assisted baskets are usually higher percentage shots, and we saw a lot more of those in the second half than the first half. Wants to see some more growth there, feels his team can be a 15-18 assist per game team.
Mike Williams III and Trae Hannibal
  • Hannibal said the game just came to him tonight. He came off the bench with a lot of energy and it fueled his performance.
  • Williams said going into the second half coach asked him to pick up the energy and take more shots, and he did that and ended up with 13 second half points.
  • Hannibal says they've been working on certain zone defenses, but he feels they're at their best when they play man press.
  • They said "it's going to be a show" and "very fun" when Jalen Cook takes the court on Saturday.

LSU BASKETBALL LSU WBB post game presser notes

Kim Mulkey
  • Says she doesn't think one of her teams have ever held a team scoreless for an entire quarter. She also doesn't think she's ever been a part of a 47-0 run.
  • Said her team came out sluggish again, so she switched to a full court press and it got them going and got them some transition buckets.
  • Aalyah came to LSU with a bad ankle that kept swelling every time she played in high school. She made the USA team, but with the ankle injury, she decided to not play and get her ankle treated and it's really paid dividends. Thinks she's a lot more mobile now than she was just a few weeks ago and you could see that tonight in her play.
  • Says it's an emphasis to play a lot of instate schools because she wants to make WBB in Louisiana better. She just wants to grow the game in our state.
  • Doesn't know when Haley Van Lith will be back. Says she could play, it's just a nagging injury so they want to get her as close to 100% as possible.
  • Feels this time is the best time to coach because players aren't in school. They get the players undivided attention and she thinks this is one of the most important times of the year.
  • Thinks her defense is still catching up because of the missing pieces. They didn't have angel and now they don't have Haley or Sa'Myah Smith, so they're still working out the kinks. She sees improvement, but there's still some work to be done.
  • Sa'Myah Smith is having her surgery after Christmas. Says she tore her ACL in her other knee, so she's been through it before. She still is attentive in practice and she knows she'll get another year of eligibility.
  • Still believes this team is deeper than last years team despite all the losses to injuries or other reasons.
Aalyah Del Rosario and Angelica Velez
  • Rosario says her teammates are her No. 1 supporters. When she brought home her 10th rebound for a double-double, the bench exploded and she said it felt really good to have teammates her support her so much.
  • Velez says she's played with Rosario since middle school and one thing that stands out to her is her work ethic. She was excited to see all her hard work pay off.
  • Rosario says Velez has become a better leader and playing with a point guard that knows how you play is huge and she feels it's one of the reasons she played well tonight.
  • Velez says being able to sit on the bench and learn from Flau'jae, Mikaylah and HVL has helped her take another step in her game.
McNeese Coach
  • Said the experience of playing an elite team is great for them.
  • Felt they started off great, but they need to learn how to finish.
  • Says games like this shakes you a little bit, but there are very few weaknesses they could find to exploit against this LSU team.
  • He's never seen a freshman like Mikaylah Williams. Says they were trying to contain her, but once she got going, she was hard to stop.
  • Thinks LSU has gotten better over the last couple of weeks and they're starting to lock in now. They tried to find some mismatches, and they tried to use Alva Mofalk down low, but they couldn't get anything going.
  • Said LSU's pressure got to them and they made a lot of unforced errors. They finished the game with 36 turnovers.
